Research software
2020 Financial Services Members will know that, in the past, we've had a few reservations about 'research software' aimed at the IFA market. One well-known brand has always managed to given the somewhat unfortunate impression of being there to support the IFA's preferred product-choice, rather than to facilitate genuine open-market research. And of course, for some small IFA firms, the subscription costs can be a tad uneconomic.
Recently, we came across a new incarnation of DeFaqto's software (previously Aequos). It's called Engage, and it is an online resource, much more powerful and intuitive than the old CD-based version.
Engage covers the full range of life, pensions and investment plans available on the open-market in the UK, and allows the IFA to progressively refine their selection, via the creation of shortlists which can then be compared. The end result is a very comprehensive product-justification report in Word format which the practitioner can edit.
You may be interested to know that Engage can work from client data already entered onto Clarity, and then reuse that data for generating illustrations on The Exchange.
Clearly, there is a cost attached to this kind of resource. We'd like to explore the potential for a deal with DeFaqto - as it appears there is mileage for a significantly better deal than the standard licence which works out at around £100 per month.
